Temba Tsheri Sherpa born in 1985 May 09, at the age of 16 years 14 days, became the youngest person ever to climb Mount Everest on May 23, 2001. Mr. Sherpa is widely accepted that he is the youngest person to have climbed top of the world, Mt. Everest (8848m). As per GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BOOK, he will be the youngest Everest summitter forever. He climbed Mount Everest via North Ridge jointly with a French group in 2001.
He started his first journey to Mount Everest in April 2000AD via South Ridge, Nepal side at the age of 14yrs. unfortunately, due to bad weather and poor equipments, he had to return just below from the summit because of long queue in Hillary Step. During this attempt, he reached 8826 meters, where upon he vowed to come back again. Sherpa lost five fingers altogether due to frostbite during his first attempt to Mt. Everest, three on the right and two on the left.
On April 9, 2001, the following year, he made a second attempt from the Tibet side. On his way up, he turned 16. Reaching the summit of Mt.Everest in the early morning of May 23, 2001, he fulfilled his dream and became the youngest climber of the highest mountain in the world and recorded his name in Guinness World Record Book as youngest Everest Summiter.
Temba Tsheri Sherpa has recently climbed Mt. Amadablam on the occasion of Nepal Tourism year 2011. Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has felicitated him as “Honorary Goodwill Ambassador” of Nepal Tourism year 2011. He has completed different training related to mountaineering and trekking. His team has successfully leading Sherpa Khangri Pvt Ltd Company in Nepal.
